I Don't Work With Addicts: Becoming Competent When A Client Discloses Substance Use

Session Learning Objectives:

  • Identify specific questions to ask clients about frequency, amount, and consequences of substance use in a non-judgmental to determine whether a client meets criteria for a substance use disorder
  • Identify resources to utilize to provide psychoeducation to clients about the impact of substances
  • Identify where a client is at in the stages of change
  • Identify professional stance on substances and whether you might take an abstinence or harm reduction approach with clients

A completion certificate for 1.5 hours will be provided to registrants after completing a brief evaluation.
